Paige Christine
The Therapist
She/Her/Hers
If you ask Paige when she was born and where she’s from she’ll say, “90's baby from middle of nowhere Wisconsin.”
“I’ve been drawing since I can remember, camping trips were spent with coloring books. The walls in my house were also covered in Rugrats and Wild Thornberrys stamps, which I would consider an installation. My mom didn't appreciate it.. I even won a "Peace Poster" competition in fifth grade and I'm pretty sure it still hangs in my Elementary School.”
In her senior year of high school she decided she wanted to combine her love of art with helping people and found out that there was a field called "Art Therapy."
“I went to the University of Wisconsin-Stout for undergrad, where I graduated with my BS (Bachelors of Science) in psychology with a Studio Art Minor. I never really specialized in one specific medium, but do enjoy oil painting and ceramics most. Directly after I graduated from there I moved to Colorado where I began my masters program at Naropa University for Transpersonal Art Therapy. I have been working as a therapist with adults since I graduated and soon after, decided that I needed another challenge, because I don't feel satisfied with just one job. Since moving to Colorado I've worked on an organic farm, been a barista, a waitress, recreation supervisor, basketball, volleyball, and t-ball coach, and basketball referee.”
Now she tries to just stick to working as a therapist, and tattoo artist, but still does work as a recreation supervisor and referee. She’s unfortunately not coaching this year due to the pandemic.
“I was also drawn to tattooing because I realized it took almost a dozen tattoos before I was ever tattooed by a woman. A tattoo is a permanent body modification and can be a very vulnerable situation, especially with those who may have adverse experiences in their past. My wish is to provide a welcoming space where individuals can feel safe during their tattoo experience. Our bodies and relationship to them can be empowered through tattoos, which is an awe-inspiring process that I am humbled to be a part of. The end goal is to combine tattooing with my own art therapy practice, but that’s in the future and I’m still figuring out the practicalities of it.”
